Ps3 types for Modding to 3.55

Is their away of telling what firmware a new ps3 should have by the serial No or build date and hdd so can make sure it doesn't have over 3.55 , ones to stay clear of etc slim ,fat, built after ???


Is this correct 3.4 firmware June 2010 ????

Also can a S/h old ps3 with low firmware when built be updated automatically by
Sony update to the latest firmware, eg 3.2 to 3.6

Sorry for all the Question just want to buy a ps3 so can get 3.55 on it either
new or S/h

You'll probably find all the info you'll ever need here

To answer your question, firstly doubt you will find a NEW ps3 with > 3.55 f/w, but iin terms of date, i think 3.55 came out at the end of 2010/early 2011 from memory.
F/w can/will be updated by a game update or when you try to connect to PSN.
You can always downgrade from a higher f/w but requires alot more work & $$$

If you want a PS3 with 3.55 on a reasonably new Slim SKU, look no further.
