I could not get my one to work with 890.4278 with 9.4xxx or 8.5xxxSE but no problem with 9.061. I can't understand why Tom Tom cant make it work. The sensis maps continue to be there main problem, these maps are awful. They still have the same errors they had 12 months ago and it is not good enough. I will not be renewing my map subscriptions.

this one just locks up on my old tomtom one XL as soon as you try and enter the menu,
Might try a different version bootloader.

Have you got a copy of the bootloader you running lem ?

The bootloader is not your problem unless it is still below 5.5012.
I don't understand why so many people think the bootloader is causing their problems.
Just seems easier risking a brick than to find a proper Navcore....

The XL was and still is a tricky device when it comes to new Navcores.
Maybe it helps using my version of the 9.450 and to see if a different emualtion will work.
With most XL models it is an endless game of trying to get new NC working as expected.

DND, the bootloader I have on my ONE device was installed accidentally a few years ago while I was experimenting with various navcores. The system file must have been in one of the navcores and I didn't realize it. Still though, no harm is done and it is working just as well as it was with the earlier bootloader.

But just as Downunder says, the freezing problem you are having has absolutely nothing to do with the bootloader. The bootloader, as I'm sure you know, is just like a BIOS or CMOS on a pc computer, nothing more. Once it boots up, you are left with your operating system (just like Windows). There is your problem, not the bootloader.

DND, I may have the solution for you! The ONE XL may not work with the 9.160 navcore because it is missing a data.chk file for the 4.3 inch screen. (Since my ONE has a 3.5 inch screen, I don't require this file). Download it from here:

Yes, that's perfectly fine. Leave the bootloader as is.

    Hello for everyone!

I have a TomTom One XL , model 4500.006, 32Mb version with SD card. I tried almost version of navcores, but still have some trouble.
Now, i have one card 1Gb, FAT, with NC 8.010 (patched), GPS v1.21, bootloader 5.5136 and v915.5106 maps) and work fine.

But I want NC v9.xxx version, for IQ Route and ALG. I tried different version and every time the GPS is changed from 1.21 in 1.20.
    How can I keep 1.21?

First time I thinking that gps depend on booloader but not. When I put the mentioned card with 8.010 NC, GPS is 1.21.

What navcore is better for me tto have good GPS version and also, ALG, IQ Route and no lag.

    I want too much...isn't? :P

There are a few navcores you can try. 9.170 SE works well with ONE XL models:

    TomTom GO 730, Navcore 9.051c, 64Mb RAM, Australia 925.5412, Bootloader: 5.5250
    TomTom ONE v1, Navcore 9.170SE, 32Mb RAM, Australia 925.5412, Bootloader: 5.5244
