Just about to do my first var/etc entry in Notepad++, am sure i read that DM500s wont recognise a line if it has # in front of it
Do i do my entries minus the symbol or with it ?
Trying to save myself some heart ache

Hi,
do not use MS editors. Get yourself Edit Plus. Works great for most formats.

Correct do not enter # in front of the command line.

use note pad to edit the files and use flasfxp to upload etc to the unit

you can use Dreambox Control Center to connect to your dreambox, edit and save your files.

The # is usually used to comment out the line in config files. Handy if you want to leave some comments for future references. Also handy if you want to keep oryginal line while you put your own settings.
If you put # in front of the line the whole line will be ignored by the program.
The .xml however needs different signs for commenting out the lines.

just use internet explorer i usually only ever use firefox but IE comes standard with ftp so open IE, ftp your dream ip and then click on tools and open in explorer drag it onto the desktop and alter what you want and put it back takes all of 20 seconds
