mediastar powers HD8200s
Hi was wondering when the newest firmware up grade is done on these units will it affect any of the other setting ie; card sharing info, as l don't have access to these details i dont want to loose them. Any help/advise would be helpful

usually upgrading the xcamclient would be the one to upset CS details. These are located in the /var/etc/cardclient.conf or /var/etc/protect/cardclient.conf depending on version.
Try the firmware upgrade and then go from there. Just make sure you stop all plugins before upgrading.

Leroy the plugins on the box at the moment are as follows MCAS, web zeal, keditor, X cam client, mclient and x cam configure all of these are in manual then there is samba server and mg camd which are both in auto only mg camd is showing started should i stop this before firmware upgrade

leroy firmware will not load it is saying check model when i attempt to down load off the usb stick
you should stop all plugins. Obviously mgcamd is your CS plugin.
What version firmware do currently you have?

In the mean time you need to backup your cs details so ftp to your box and backup the /var/etc/cardclient.conf (it maybe in /var/etc/protect/cardclient.conf) And in there you prob have a newcamd line to your server.

update with this one first
Do system restore to factory default
then upload this firmware
Then you will need to update to the latest fw
Set up your receiver
Load plugins
