    Default TomTom 250XL

I replaced my TomTom one with a XL 250 but do not get the warning sound when exceeding the speed limit, on the menu is a triangle that says "Enable Safety Alerts" but that is greyed out. Navcore 9.430 map 890.4278
Any help would be very much appreciated
I am new to this so please be patient

    Hi,
Remember to burn a DVD of your original TomTom files first.

I have written of my success in getting the audio to work, if you go to the following link :

    Code:
    http://www.austech.info/tomtom/67492-tomtom-xl250.html

please note that my menu was initially based from
    Code:
    http://opentom.org/Menu_structure

    which linked to

    http://home.earthlink.net/~russellbaker/SdkRegistry.zip
that showed me the way, (giving credit where credit is due )

    hope that helps,

people with a Tomtom XL350 no audio may also benefit from this work around.

    Alex

You can also check if the 9.430 or 9.450 I uploaded works

I'm not 100% sure but you should be able to assign a warning tone:
Perferences, safety preferences, warn when driving faster than allowed
Next page gives you the selection of a specific warning tone for that event, if present even a spoken warning like "get the foot off the throttle"

The menu on my tomtom does not have the option Perferences, safety preferences, warn when driving faster than allowed,it did on my tomtom one but not this one(XL)
Can I some how copy something from my one to the XL?

All you can try is to use a NC with support for different emus and to hope that in a working emu you get access to that menu.
Once set the settings should stay active even if the emu of your choice does not offer that menu.
For my NC's 36- XL Live should work and give you access to that menu, if not you must try ...

    Might not too bad anyway...
In my area TT messed up some speeds for 4 map generations in a row - with the 890's even the Westgate bride is limited to 60!!
Since TT ovvers not "buffer" for the warning it will set in as soon as you go 3k over the limit - at least that was the case last time I checked.
To make things worse the warning only goes away once the red speeding box is gone.
So I disabled that "feature" in older NC's and don't really care about it anymore.
Speedcams are not always correct, but better save than sorry- but it terms of the normal road speeds TT is to often off the real limit to be of any use.
