Default Navcore 9.170 SE for 32 MB ONE & XL models [by mark cat]

This thread is especially for any users having problems with the earlier 9.061 navcore on ONE XL models, here is another navcore from mark cat's collection - 9.170 SE.

This navcore will work on most 32MB devices and may also work on other models.

Extract folders and files directly to the root of the device or SD card and proceed with adding the map and activating it.

    Hi mate,

just wondering how can I upgrade mine to the latest version using a new SDHC.

    Device: TomTom One XL
    App: 8.010 (9369/080529)
    OS: 190943
    GPS v1.21
    Boot 5.3026
    Current Map: "Australia" v675.1431

I tried it before using new SD card (insert directly to the GPS) but both of my device and my PC failed to recognize it. It always force me to Format the device, but everytime I press "Format" button another pop-up came up saying that Format is failed.

But if I'm using Card Reader and plug it in to USB port on my PC, it works fine and I can copy any folder/files into the SD card

Someone says that my device couldn't recognise my new SD Card (4Gb capacity) because the version of GPS Boot Loader is pretty old.

Any suggestion mate? Thanks in advance...

The only way to upgrade the bootloader is to install a "system" file directly into the internal flash drive or to use a non-SDHC card, that is, 2GB or smaller.

The bootloader (system file) that is recommended for ONE models is 5.5136
    Download link below:

Simply copy this file into the internal memory (or 2GB SD card) and power it on, then wait till it flashes the bootloader. Make sure your device is fully charged before proceeding.

Also, only use the above bootloader for ONE or ONE XL models.

What Bootlegger would I need for TomTom XXL 540 as mine is out of date? I'm also trying to update Australian Map and Speedcams

Ok, I've updated two One XL's from NC 8.562 SE to this 9.170 SE

The first one is all good but the second one does not show the quick menu (green arrow) on the main screen. I reset the device, cleared the flash, formatted the SD card again and reinstalled but still no quick menu.

There are only two differences between the two devices I can see:

    1. The bootloader. The first one is 5.5022 but the second one is 5.3012
    2. The SD card. The first one uses an 4GB SDHC card but the second one is just a normal 2GB SD card

So I'm assuming the second device won't show the quick menu because of the bootloader....what do you think?

Strange really as the quick menu was there when it was running on NC 8.562 SE but not with 9.170 SE so I'd be grateful for any advice (btw: if it is the bootloader, could you please upload it again as the links are dead)

    Thanks again

Why is it that all noobs try to blame the bootloader for their problems?
If on your PC a program won't work properly, do you try to fix the bios or do you check your Windows?
Why would the SD make a difference, if the NC loads from it??
It is like opening the door on your car:
Smart people simple use the key and open it, other feel the need to climb through the boot to get into the drivers seat
Might be a bit too obvious, but did you actually select something for the quick menu to show? If not I have to agree with your TT and would not feel the need to show a quick menu either

    Hi Downunder,

The thing is that I've read many comments of yours about bootloaders to many people across many sites and you advise them not to worry about updating their bootloader unless they REALLY need to do it otherwise they risk bricking their TT.
So, I DO KNOW and understand that so the very last thing I want to do is flash the bootloader, OR ask any questions about it for that matter as I know what will be coming....and sure enough I wasn't disappointed

However, the point I was trying to get across was that I did 2 x clean installs on 2 x TT XL's and one DID have the quick menu showing and the other one didn't.....despite me doing the EXACT same install procedure on both!
Not only that, but there WAS NO SUB MENU on either device to enable the quick menu or add/remove options for the quick menu despite me looking everywhere and finding FA. This is what got me thinking about the bootloader as I couldn't for the life of me think why there would be a quick menu on one XL but not the other when everything was EXACTLY the same?

So the big question should have been: where are the preferences for the quick menu?

The answer: make sure you don't set the model to 'xls' in the 'setconfig' file OTHERWISE THE QUICK MENU PREFERENCES WILL NOT APPEAR ON YOUR TT NO MATTER WHERE YOU LOOK!

THAT was my mistake so I changed the model in 'setconfig' to x40light and now all is well

Anyway, thanks a lot to both you and lemonfish for all your help......I promise to never mention bootloaders again

Now I've got that bit sorted out, there was one more thing that I noticed about this NC package....and that is that the new antitheftw.bmp image is missing from the archive.

Yes, the normal size antitheft.bmp is there but the one for the XL device isn't, so when the TT turns off it reverts to showing the splashw.bmp as it can't find anything else to use.

So, I've photoshopped the image to the right dimensions and I'm attaching it here in case anyone else wants it?

Just right click on the image and save it as 'antitheftw.bmp' before adding it to the root directory of your TT
