    Default Rsync for E2

Great tool for backing up your E2 HDD.

For example I just upgraded my Ultimo to a 2TB HDD from a 1.5TB HDD.

The 2TB Drive is a USB one and once I transferred the files I removed the HDD from the USB case and whacked it into the Ultimo.

    Once you install Rsync

Use this command rsync -rtP /media/hdd/ /media/usb/

Change the mounted directories to suit your own mounts.

There are other methods, but I like this way as you can see the progress.

Just as an added note. It took about two days tow transfer 1.5TB of movies, music, pictures ect at an average of 9.8Mbps.

The good news was 3/4 of the way through the power went out and when I telnetted back to the vu and sent the same command, it continued exactly where it left off which was a relief.

Rsync indexes everything before it starts to copy and so must compare the indexes each time.

Is there a way to use the Esata port to transfer files from your internal hard drive in the Vu as I read somewhere about a Swap manager. ?

Anything hooked up to the esata port will just appear as another ata drive.
