    Just out of interest and any that has research it allready.

    what the quickest 8gb and 16gb USB 3.0 thumb drives and there read write speeds.

    Portable usb or you can better yet have an external hard drive that can have up to 5 terrabytes.

    I'm refering to the read and write speed times not how big the hdd can be lol.

    5TB?? The most storage I've seen on a external was 3TB..

    I suggest checking on device manufacturers websites for 'claimed' speeds.

    Actual speeds will vary considerably, even with the same device, when used on different computers.

    Might be a bit late now as this thread is a little old now but..

    You can search for crystal disk benchmarks on different brands, this gives a good indication of the sticks speed.

    i was looking at getting a patriot usb 3 but settled for a cheap 32gb one (cant remember the brand and the printing has worn off) it has a terrible write speed, i use it for videos on a tablet and ps3 games but it's painfully slow to load stuff onto. It's often faster to burn a dvd, or use the 32gb micro sd card in the phone with usb cable.

    I have a Patriot Supersonic Xpress 32GB USB 3.0 stick... very pleased with it.

    I'ts faster than others I've used and there's a noticable speed difference even when used on a USB 2.0 connection.
