Default card readers ..where to start

I am not even up to the nubee level for this sort of question and don’t really know who to ask, but could be interested in learning more, so hope some suggestion..

I saw the Austech file box (my 1st time seeing this file box) a file with Aurora txt such as:
    HEX-SR PROD-ID MASTERKEY PMK
    27CCB8 0077DD 5B58E2895205AC3D 944267A49D362C11

There must be an interesting hobby associated with this sort of info.
1.) Where does one go to start to learn more about the subject and
2.) What kind of equipment is needed
3.) Is this primarily a hobby or does it lead to something more useful in the long run

Current gear I have is an Window-XP laptop and a F2A STB on satellite receiver with a card reader and CI slot in the receiver. (both PC and receiver have USB ports)

Thank you in advance for any thoughts given..

    1. Here. Using the sites search (on the toolbar) should reveal a lot more information, I would suggest search using "aurora" and "card" as search words.

    2. A programmer, a card, a computer, a cable.

    3. Hobby.
