Is there a script that will scan the epg and your recorded files and "learn" what you record so as to automatically queue jobs as patterns arise?
Yes, like a Tivo.

would be nice, but not as far as I know. The features on the Dreambox, seem to be 'dumb'
not that I know of mate
Dm500, DM5620, DM600 x2, DM7000 x1, DM7020, DM7025, DM800, VU+DUO and a partridge in a pear tree

Not sure if you could call a dreambox dumb. Its the linux OS and should have a commonn set of consloe tools.
I know squat about scripting but I would presume that you would scan a directory ../movies making a list of video titles, then scan the epg comparing both together making a list of similar occurances and then insert timer events into the approbate place for the system to act upon once that time had arrived.
I know it sounds simple but I realise that there is lots of logic and possible some custom written tools maybe required.....but not impossible I would say.....what about it guru's?

hey porkop
z1gg33 was working on a script that read through recordings and created subdirectories for different shows thus organising his movies directory - that seems to be the first half of the problem you have posed.
next part of the puzzle is EPG search - its in the webif for e2 but not in e1 - it is in OSD for e1 so maybe you could get a hook into it
last part of the puzzle is setting recordings which is accessible from teh webif and creates links like this :
javascript:record('1:0:1:1390:5:1000:6180000:0:0:0 :','1275337800','1800','Forensic%20Files','Crime', '0')

on openpli for e2 there are at least 2 plugins which attempt to make learning your recording habits to add stuff automatically.

So how do I install all this on a DM800 with OpenPli 1.0 Beta? I'm lost...

due to lack os resources on the 500 you need to store the epg.db on a network mount
as the 600 only has hard drive to share would mean that the 600 hard drive spins up every time you look at epg on the 500
other than that it should work - NFS share a directory on the 600 hdd as 500
then connect to it from the 500 and use that to store the epg
if the 600 is already downloading oztivo - then set the server flag to =Y in the oztivo_au.txt file on the 600
then on the 500 change the oztivo_au.txt to ftp connect to to the 600 rather than getting it from oztivo ...

CrossEPG for OpenPli 1.0 - which file do I use from
enigma2-plugin-systemplugins-crossepg-oe1.6_0.6.0-svn-142_mipsel.ipk (CrossEPG ENIGMA2 mipsel 0.6.0 svn 142 OE1.6)
enigma2-plugin-systemplugins-crossepg-oe1.5_0.6.0-svn-142_mipsel.ipk (CrossEPG ENIGMA2 mipsel 0.6.0 svn 142 OE1.5)
Now OpenPli have their own custom OE, so technically it is neither OE1.6 nor OE1.5.
