Sorry, it's the USB driver which needs to be installed> The solution can be found at and it does work.

Unfortunately the A200 doesn't have a floppy drive. Any other ideas?

Z80, I can't see any way into this machine either - there's no screws visible on the bottom. none hidden under the rubber feet either.

Sorry Don, getting confused here as the thread has been hijacked.
For your problem, remove the hard drive, put it in another laptop with a working cd drive and install windows that way( then copy all files from the xp cd to the drive as well and return it to its own laptop), or get a 2.5" - 3.5" drive adaptor and install it from a desktop.
We will work out some way to do it.

Yeah, I'd already thought of that approach; I just gotta work out a way to open the laptop up, as I said there's no visible screws on the bottom or anywhere else

sometimes you may need to lift the keyboard, this was the case with an old lappy of mine,
the procedure may be covered in the manual if you can get hold of one.

Yep, that did it, thanks mate.

Please post a photo? ( I keep asking.....)

I am thinking it is just a standard selectbay CDROM that i could replace with any old drive from a scrap machine.

Toshibas have a variety of drives that work.

I have over 40 scrapped laptops here...so I need a photo, or send me the old one.

LOL Take your HDD out of your laptop and install in your main computer and then
load xp on to it and then stick it back in your laptop. This has worked for me more than 80% of the time

It is a standard selectbay DVD as used in just about every model toshiba.

I have a few of them.

If you just want a reader?

$15 plus postage...say $30 for the lot express post.

Worst case...you may have to take off the bits of plastic shroud with a fine jewellers screwdriver and fit to the replacement.

    too easy.....

By the way it's just a crappy UJDA755 panasonic drive....
