    Default OpenBox Doorstop??

Tried to put some newer firmware on my Openbox S10 last night, seems this was a fatal mistake.

Booted up the first few times fine, but eventually on about the the 3rd reboot it seems it failed the clone check, coming firstly up with a clone message on screen, then something on the OSD.

At this point I turned it off. Now it won't even boot at all, nothing shows on the front panel.

I am correct that even trying to reflash it via serial won't work as the box won't power on?? Anything else I can try??

5 days out from the start of the Olympics is not great timing.

I would try flashing via the serial port. What was the clone message?

Have you tried a factory reset ? not sure if it will work.

I'll try harder to re-flash it via serial. It would seem that caps would go, it's not even that old.

I didn't get time to see the error message, it disappeared really fast. I think on the screen LCD it might have said 'check'

What tool does one use to do it via serial cable? Normally I flashed it via USB.

    Default Openbox doorstop?

Try asking on they seem to cover all of the open/sky boxes there, incl clones. Worth a try! Good Luck!
    Mike.

all is not lost. My brick has been de-bricked

I ran a file floating around the internet called 'Openbox S9-S10 fix.zip'. Flashed it via serial cable (I knew there was a reason I kept that old computer that still had a serial port on the motherboard) and now it's back in action again.

Good stuff. You should upload it to the filebox for others.

As suggested, I have uploaded the file to the filebox.

There is a Word doc in there that explains what you need to do.

I suggest you start a new thread as it's unrelated to this thread's topic!
