I didn't try to use ISA card with XP but it should theoretically work.
I'd say you might want to check resources used for clashes. XP can show the port as working with interrupts still clashing.
Hi all
Trying to get an old isa i/o card to work with Xp to get 4 com ports working. I can get it to say its working in the device manager list, but in reality the ports don't work. Has any one tried and succeeded in this area?
Cheers

The ISA card will probably have jumpers on the card to set the com ports, irq and addresses that it uses. You will most likely need to change the card, or change the onboard ports in the motherboards bios which is likely to be easier.
What would you do if your server was stolen or failed beyond repair?

You will most likely find a resource conflict with com1 and com3, com2 and com4.
unless as stated above, you have a very configurable card.
In any event Xp will not work with an isa card because it will not be PNP.
For 20 bucks get a PCI card.
Thanks all,
@cwispy It has jumpers but I've tried various combinations and I can't find any info about them so I'll go with a new one
@z80 I'll get a new card I thought the isa may be a problem
try disabling the onboard com ports. If it works then, you have a conflict. Most of these cards you can configure to work on anything.
What happens if I press alt + F4?
