Need extremely stable 5 / 12 V DC power supply to power up your toys (i.e. JCII, PDA, PSP, etc)?
Here is how you do it:
1) Get any ATX power block from old PC (you'll find one easily I am sure)
2) Look at the 20 Pin connector (Note: some chineese models have incorrect colour coding, so check the pin number and not the green colour) find # 14 (Power Supply ON) and any one of those Ground #15, 16 or 17.
see
3) Connect # 14 with the GRD.
That's it!
Power block will be working without being connected to the Motherboard.
For JCII - you don't even need to rewire - standard 4 pin connector will work.
(Black - GND, Yellow +12) Red is +5V by the way.
If you have not thrown that old PC away yet - dismantle and get USB socket from it and solder to the spare wires - you'll get universal 5v power supply.
Note: ATX with 24 pin you need to connect #16 to the ground, see pinouts at:
Before you start: please disconnect power block from the AC.
