Just rename your maps so one is gmapprom.img (normally the primary map) and the other is gmapsupp.img. You can also use gmapsup1, gmapsup2 or gmapsup3.

My father recently purchased a Nuvi 2445 in Europe which had full European maps. He has now come back to Australia and wants to install the aussie maps. I downloaded the 2013 City Navigator .img file.
Is there anyway to have this installed on the unit and still keep the europe maps. I ask this because the img file name is the same as the europe img file map name.

Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic!
You can also create a Folder in the root of the device called Map or on a MicroSd card.
Late model Nuvi’s support multiple maps with anyname.img on a MicroSd card or in the root of the device if they are in a folder called Map. All you need is enough free space.
Eg;
CityNavAu.img
GarminTopoAuNz.img
TracksforOz.img
Anything-you-like.img
If you put the City Nav Au Map on an Sd card in Map folder you will also want to create a Folder called Garmin & in that folder, create another folder called JCV & put the new junction view file in it.
Alternatively you can put the City Nav map on sd card in folder called Garmin as long as you call it gmapsupp.img.
There are more alternatives here
For the Nuvi 2445 don't forget to read post #4 in tutorial.
Cheers, Tiny
