Doctor Who Series 9 19th Sept.

The following trailer & discussion of it's content can be found at,

    Warning spoiler!!
Doctor Who: nine things we learned from the new trailer
What is Game of Thrones’ Maisie Williams doing in the Tardis – and what are the Daleks up to this time? Just two of the questions we – sort of – know the answer to, thanks to the trailer for next month’s new series ..........
    Cheers, Tiny

Thanks for that Tiny and I believe there is a Dr Who Concert at Moore Park in Sydney sometime in November if I heard the advert correctly.

I do wonder how this version of the Doctor will be accepted.

From what I have seen of Peter Capaldi as the Doctor, he has the makings to be every bit as good as Tom Baker, I just hope that he is. I can't wait for the new series, it seems like forever since we've seen anything new out of Gallifrey. And no, I am unlikely to watch the spoiler, but then again..........

The so called spoiler spoils nothing as it only shows the usual cast of dastardly aliens hell bent on doing their damnedest to defy the Doctor and his able assistant Clara Oswald in any way possible, in exactly the same way they have been doing for the last 50 years............
All it does is make you drag your finger nails down the Blackboard so the noise will distract you from the interminable time we have to wait for the new series to start !!!!!!!!!

Ok; so far after scanning the TV guides the new series (9) will start, in just over a week, on Sunday 20th at 7:42pm on the ABC.

There is as yet no indication that I can find of a simulcast on the Saturday 19th with BBC.

    looking forward to it.
    Cheers, Tiny

They have it listed on BBC1 starting at 19:40 so with conversion to AU, a simulcast would be at about 4:30 Sunday morning. All ABC has listed in that time slot is crappy Rage.

But on a brighter note it will air 1 hour later at 5:30am on iview.

We are delighted to announce that the ninth series of Doctor Who will be fast-tracked direct from the UK, with the first episode
premiering on iview on Sunday 20 September at 5.30am (AEST). Watch the trailer now. ‪#‎DoctorWho‬

So; another good episode, will the Doctor terminate the young Davros, to save his friends??
That would truly be Genocide of the Daleks, however what will it do to the time line???

Brings back memories of 'Genesis Of the Daleks' with Tom baker.

    The mystery continues next Sunday.

Loved the guitar rifts, excellent touch to the episode.
    Cheers, Tiny

I am quite sure along with suitable twists and turns that the Daleks days are far from numbered as 'They' are as much of the story of Dr Who as he is.
This is like the Serials we used to see at the 'Flic's on 'Saturday Arvo' where either the Hero or Heroine was in 'Peril of their Life' at the end of each episode but, and I say BUT again, when you saw the next episode, all was NOT what it seemed and the Hero/Heroine lived on to fight in other episodes...........as I am sure the Daleks will too.

Can't say I was so keen on the guitar riffs, whilst it's fair enough that the Doctor could do all that, the context seems to be totally "off". The premise of most Dr Who stories is not to affect the timeline.

    The Witch's Familiar.

    Another classic Who dunnit!

The script writers have really got it right, those scenes with The Doctor & Davros were excellent (again reminiscent of Tom Baker with Davros in Genesis of the Daleks) & the stand-up comedy, with evil intent, of Missy (AKA The Master) is a good mood lightener.

The revelation that the TARDIS was not destroyed but instead had deployed its Hostile Action Displacement System (HADS) was masterful.

    Enjoyed every moment.

Yeah but a little continuity would be nice, we've already seen the TARDIS go into "Siege Mode" (in fact, with this same Doctor) where it minimizes its external dimensions when under attack, surely the situation in the latest episode also qualified as a siege, so why HADS this time?

And really, how stupid is the Clara Oswald character, how many times can you fall for The Master/Mistress' "old bait and switch" routine before you'd figure out not to be such a sucker?

I swear there's something going on behind the scenes there too, I reckon Jenna Coleman keeps asking for more money or something because the writers seem to be killing her off and then resurrecting her again just about every second episode lately?

And what happened to the timeline where Clara and Soldier-boy were supposed to be the great grandparents of the future chrononaut? He's now dead slash Cyber-nated and she's not pregnant (that we know of) so unless Cybermen are anatomically correct...???

Well that's the flexibility you have when writing episodes for a Time Lord show, he can visit many different timelines so the story can be continued, dead-ended or rehashed. That's the fun, mystery & fantasy behind it all.

Probably a wise move on her part. Like many actors who stay in a role for too long, they get type cast and can never shake that persona. I hope that they do tie up a few loose ends before her demise, though. They'll probably have her back for cameos in later episodes anyway.

I dont know if anybody has noticed but the ABC is repeating the Sunday nights episode on ABC2, Monday night at 7.30pm, note 7.30pm, not 7.40pm as it is on ABC Sunday night.
Also the Saturday Night episode of 'New Tricks' is also repeated on Sunday afternoon at 5pm but on ABC itself.

So they've killed-off Clara Oswald yet again... I wonder if she'll stay dead this time?

Maybe Osgood the human/zygon hybrid will be the next companion?

The Doctor has to dodge a SAM first though... not sure if I like how they've gone back to these multi-part episodes with the cliff-hanger endings, it wasn't so bad in the old days because you only had to wait till the following night to see the next episode, not a whole week!
