I am looking at setting up a group/bulk buy for Roku receivers for Austech members.
For anyone looking to get in to Internet TV (Netflix, Hulu etc) purchasing a Roku receiver is a great investment. See why Satellite/Cable companies are losing thousands of customers (known as "cutting the cord") to internet tv.
The Roku XS is the top of the Roku range (I personally own one) and is what I would recommend as it has an ethernet port as well as wireless (which also works great). The remote function on the XS is fantastic and doesnt even need to be pointed at the Roku ! The Roku can be mounted to the back of your tv with an optional mounting kit if you dont want it visible. The unit itself is tiny, as the yanks describe it, "the size of a donut" It uses a tiny "less than 2 watts" when watching HD Video ! Thats about 20% of what a standard light globe uses these days.
Hundreds of channels are available on Roku, from free to subscription. The pick of the lot is of course Netflix, which costs less than $8AUD a month. Thats less than $2 a week ! It makes Foxtel/Austar look mighty expensive. Add Hulu Plus for another $8 a month and all your movie and TV series needs are covered. Amazon Instant Video is another service available which has a service called "Prime Instant Video" for $80 a year. You can also hire any new release movies......say good bye to the video shop, you wont need to go there ever again.
This is just a general notice thread at this stage , nothing is in place, I cannot give you prices etc. But if you would be interested, please reply in this thread so I can see what sort of interest we might have. Roku only sell these devices in the USA so they can be a pain and expensive to get in Australia. So I intend to take that pain out
General Use support will be provided in a thread on Austech. They are very easy to use, signing up for some services can be tricky, but I will provide easy to understand walkthru's for anyone who gets stuck.

I am interested mate, I was told recently that Netflix was pretty good...
Also nothing enters my house unless it's really lite on power consumption, this looks like just what I need.
Hell I haven't bought a new toy in ages.
Interested pending final cost.
Wish I had seen this earlier, ordered mine 3 days ago from Amazon. $109AUD Delivered
