Thanks jwo...my unit is not an Aldi one.
    It is ....

Everything I have thrown at it works flawlessly, other than sygic.

It is my opinion that this unit is a good one, and the specs are the latest release. I got the 16gb model

I tried deleting the two files as suggested,base-is-ok and database.
    Did not work.
It starts through it's initialisation, shows a quick (instantaneous then off) map of Australia with Canberra marked red, then displays the message.
I note it then automatically writes the two files, base-is-ok and database back into the root file after they were deleted, so this must be part of the file that writes on initialisation.

I then tried the link where it says "I have faced the same issue to fix it just install this fix
    http://www.paranoid-rom.com/index.ph...pps-hybrid.zip"
The page does not take you to the zip file, and a search via the forum search engine finds no reference to that file.

I will now try to google that term and see if that helps

    Thanks for the assistance

ps..have gone back to seeking some assistance

I'm running this version of Sygic:
    And you?

Perhaps you also should re-post your issue in Austech's Sygic specific thread:

One thing we forgot was it needs a bit more space on the dash/windscreen to mount a 10 inch Tablet compared to at best a 5 inch dedicated GPS devise...............

One thing I found was Google Earth runs well on the Tablet so if you have a either your own portable WiFi hotspot/Internet dongle or at a location that does have Wifi availabilty,That may be an option to find your way.
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!
