Default Do I need an Ebook/Forum reader?

I have read the 'Minor Announcements' regarding reading VB type forums on devises and I have used the Tablet (Aldi/Bauhn Andriod) to read Austech and it seemed to work ok but I was on another site I frequently use and the pages were all over the place.
Trying to scroll through the text made the pages dash and dart about and Zoom in and out annoyingly.
One day I will no doubt want to access these book sites and do I need a specific APP to be able to read the Ebook properly on the Tablet?
I dont see one shown on the current installed APP list on the Tablet but I had a look at the Google Play-Shop and theres any number of them there but I thought I would ask first before downloading something I dont want or need.
Obviously I dont have a 'Kindle' or similar and have only purchased one story from a site which I read on the desktop.
I gather you can subscribe to places like Amazon so do they include a Ereader at all?

If you are after an ebook reader program, then this is the one I downloaded to my tablet and it works very well.

I am having a problem with that Aldiko reader, it keeps telling me it 'Cant find the Server' yet everything else seems ok and the Wifi indicator is lit so I uninstalled it for the moment and try the one Diavalo has suggested.
I have downloaded the Amazon Kindle one only because I thought it might be easer to access Amazon from and it too has had me running raged.
I also downloaded and lost one (Book 01) of those files posted by whiteox, buggered if I can find it.
I downloaded both to the desktop and Book 03, that took over an hour, 250MB it was.
Now to transfer them to the tablet and try to get the reader sorted.

    Hi again.

I am on adsl1 and that file d/l in about 20 mins for me.

You do not have to be connected to the net to use Aldiko, the application loads the reader, and you can import a d/l ebook into the app.

Use your tablet to d/l the Alkido file and run it on your tablet.

It will self install to the tablet.

As far as transferring a book or files to the reader, just transfer a couple of the books to the tablet using My Computer, and dragging the files into your ebook file. From there, use Alkido via the tablet to import the file from that folder so it sits on your "bookshelf" seen in the opening of Alkido.

Once you have done it once, you will get used to it.

Just make sure you can see your tablet under my computer and drop and drag the files to suit.

What I did was download that file from whiteox onto the desktop, unzipped it to file and then loaded onto the SD card while it was connected to the desktop, the transfer only took a few minutes, it was the download (254MB) that took time.
Then I worked out (real Genius here) that to READ the files, you IMPORT to the Aldiko reader.
The tablet went to sleep because there 622 books on that file.
Now to go download the other files.
Would I be right in guessing once I have 'Imported' them to the Adinko reader, I could delete them from the card?
If I cant that doesnt matter, it is a 32GB capacity.

PS/ How the devil do you 'Unzip' files on the Tablet?

I'm not sure about the delete part yet, as I am not up to speed on that part...others may have a contribution here?

Also, I have not tried to unzip on the tablet either...I assumed you did this on the pc and transferred the unzipped file afterwards....that's what I did anyhow.

I stored all the files on my pc and just transferred what I wanted to read first, to the tablet. My thought was to read them on the tablet, and delete them from the tablet when read, and the pc being the storage portal for the ebooks.

I use file expert to uncompress files on the tablet, Check to see if the file explorer you have can uncompress too. I highlight and hold on the file i want to uncompress and the option of sending cutting copying or uncompressing pops up.

Yes, there are some file explorers that will decompress archived files. I have recently installed one but have not used it yet as my practice is to un-archive files on my PC before transferring them to my Android tablet device.

I generally use Adobe Reader for Android to read pdf files, although Quick Office also renders them well.. I have installed Laputa Pro, which was highly recommended in the Android tablet forums I visit for information (details posted in another thread) for reading e-books, but haven't downloaded any e-books yet.

Are there any free android "office" applications. I see the google owned one you mention, "Quick Office", is a "pay for" application.

Google is a good way to find stuff.

A Google search using the terms free office for android lead me to .

I don't know what its like, but "nothing ventured, nothing gained".

You need to be aware that some of the "free" apps contain nag screens, i.e. advertising.

Incidentally, it's good to see that you support the forum with premium membership .

Thanks lads...both applications downloaded and will look at them soon.

Premium membership has been paid up since the forum brought it in, and is the best investment I have made. Without it, my sharing and use of other persons knowledge would leave me in an unbelievable void.

All new members should strongly consider the investment.

Wont disagree there viewer, I am sure I have a lot more out of the Forum than what it costs to be Premium Member.
Today I did a look through Amazon at all the 'Freebie' Ebook stories and tried to download 2.
Apart from being a cheaparse, I was working on the principle if I stuffed up with a 'Freebie', I have nothing to lose.
I did all the transactions on the Desktop rather than the Tablet and got the 2 books ok to the computer.
I couldnt work out how to get the books to the tablet direct from Amazon but what I had to do on the tablet was use the Kindle file to 'sync' the Tablet and in came the files.
I dont know if this applies to all Tablets or Android or just this one but I 'm sure you'll do as I did and just keep banging the head on the table untill the pain went away.
The last Hard Copy book I bought on Amazon took 6 weeks to get here whereas this took 60 seconds............BIG difference.
Next thing to see is can all books be converted to Text/talk or is it purely for those formatted in that manner to begin with, time will tell !!!
That Adinko reader still says it 'cant connect to the server' which doesnt matter unless I want to try to browse its 'shop' if it has one.
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!

To me, getting the "stories" to the tablet is the easy bit.

For mine, all I have to do is connect the tablet to the PC, and use My Computer for it to be recognised.....using the usb cable

I then use the pc to open the contents of the tablet drive, and look in its (tablet) file manager to locate the ebook folder that I have within it.

I then go to My Computer, find the file I have downloaded or unzipped, and right click it, use the copy function, and paste it into the tablet folder. You can drag it from the pc file as well and drop it in the folder on the tablet.

I then just import it to the reader.

When you navigate in the Aldi tablet, do you have a similar file to drop it into to make things simple as well?

    I hope this helps?
