Did I miss something? I just registered a new box, UEC 4639, have Imparja South appearing on channel 91 as well as 9.
Any one else got this?
I don't remember seeing a duplicate channel there before.
Cheers, Tiny

Cool thanks, I thought it was an anomaly, didn't want to go thru the hassle of reconnecting my 4121 to check (cabinet & cables).
Now to ponder why we need a duplicate or is this a test for a new channel?

This is really weird, although they show up in the EPG as 9 & 91, 2 different channels, if you set a recording on one it shows up as recording on the other as well on the info banner & the EPG, however according to the playlist it only records 1 program?
If you then cancel the recording it shows up as cancelled on the other.
So they are in fact the same channel with 2 different ID's.

I have it here too and I am NSW SOUTH regionally.
At the moment the EPG shows 9/91 are both screening the 'Ellen Degeneres Show'.(12 Midday)
This is a bit like the Prime/7 Terrestrial network that has 3 clones of the Main channel.
SHOCK-HORROR..........could we be getting (at last) a, wait for it !!!!! SHOPPING CHANNEL ????
I am sure you all will agree Vast viewers have been sorely deprived of this form of 'entertainment'..............compared to their Terrestrial counterparts.
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!

Also on the Tassie bouquet but also with 2 and 21 being the same and 3 and 31.
daylight saving ready ??.....6 October
We need to ask smacca as he generally is 'In the Know' regarding VAST services.
I also have the 2/21, 3/31 duplication on VAST but being brain dead I cant remember if this is new or been available for some time.
This ABC/SBS duplication exists on the Terrestrial channels in my area at least as well.

Are they both on C1? Didn't they have SBS 3 on D3 and SBS 3something on C1 for awhile during the change over? or some such.

Doesnt Qld have its own beam for DST?
I think NSW North covers all areas from a line north of Sydney across the state to Bourke then to the Qld border and if they dont change with the rest of the State wont make them very happy I wouldnt think.
Bad enough not getting your Capitol city news without the programs being an hour behind.

These duplicate services really piss me off because they go against the whole idea of having a Logical Channel Number table in the first place. Networks were given LCNs 2, 3, 7, 9 and 10 (or 2, 3, 5, 6, 8 depending on the region) so they could have a prominent position at the very top of everyone's EPG TV Guide. Why would Imparja go backwards and mix their main service in with their multi-channel services? To get double the exposure of the main service? Do their viewers suffer so much they need to have Imparja close to Gem and Go! to save their arthritic fingers from too much button mashing? It's weird because no other Nine/WIN/NBN network does this as far as I can tell. The last commercial network left with them is 7 and Prime7. ABC and SBS duplicates are on terrestrial so I guess they're nothing new, but the fact they've now made sure the duplicates exist on VAST shows they're hell bent on keeping them.
I'm in the middle of building my first VAST+Terrestrial media centre and I've numbered the services the way I want to. A feature I wish standard VAST boxes would come with.

Maybe I shouldnt have asked smacca after all................
But for the life of me I cannot understand why regional terrestrial channels are number 5,6,8 for the Home channels yet ABC is on 2 Nationwide both terrestrially and Satellite?
Those numbers are totally arbitrary and bear no relationship to the frequency they transmit or any thing else for that matter, on so why do it for Terrestrial then give VAST 7,9,10 etc?
One claim was to prevent confusion where 'areas over lap' and you might get a service from a Metropolitan area as well as Regional!!!
As the regional's are almost total clones (programing) of the metro channels, I can soon tell the difference in City Big store adverts and Sheep dip and Fertiliser ads on the Regionals.
I dont care about SBS being allocated 3 as it was all over place on the dial if you had it at all but there again is SBS using the same number Nation wide.

I don't know the actual reason, but something tells me the commercial networks use two logical channel numbering schemes because they don't want their services defaulting to the 351-400 range in overlap areas, pushing them down to the bottom of the EPG. These overlap areas are so few and far between so it seems unnecessary, but after seeing this latest move by Imparja it's obvious they take their channel positions in the EPG very seriously. Remote Central and Eastern using metro LCNs (7,9,10) makes sense in this case considering the only areas they could potentially overlap with are regional areas (5,6,8).

In Toowoomba on terrestrial I can get 7 on 6, 60 and 61 as well as 7/2 on 62 and Mate on 63. ABC on 2 and 21. As Julius said "Why is it so?"
Shiiiiiit, I really opened a can of worms with this thread.
Thanks muchly for your insight Smacca.
