    Default Season Interface Schematic?

I am trying to find a schematic for a max232 season interface.

I am trying to build a season into a hummy with a bf430 to clean up the front of my HT setup.

Any suggestions or links would be greatly appreciated.

Also does anyone know how to power a bf430 internally from the humax?

    Thanks,
    -Suff

just google for alfredo season circuit.

I am too slack to figure out how to post attachments on this site.

in a nutshell on the embedded cam pcb in the humax...

the line of fingers at the rear...leftmost is ground, right most is +5volts

in the middle of the pcb..pin 2 is reset, pin 7 is data.

just solder straight onto the pins.

I'm sure fandtm66 will be along any minute with the pics of those...he will even show you how to mount the bf430 internally.

If you don't want to etch a pcb it is quite simple to build on a piece of stripboard. I built one a few weeks ago using circuit similar to the one posted by Z80. Hard wired it inside humax and it works fine.

Have a look at the maxim website you can get versions of the max232 that dont need capacitors, just one resistor and you have a season interface.

    Look at the max233 chip.

on the max233 the capacitors are replaced with pins just being shorted externally.

I have built them and they are a piece of cake to make.

Yes - I was going to mention that too. I remember when i first walked into Jaycar few years ago asking for that chip they said it didn't exist but then again what do you expect from jaycar? ended up getting one from farnells

    good mention z80

Might be a silly question but whats the circuit like is it the same just leave the caps out?

yep...instead of caps you short the two pins out wher the caps go....look at the circuit, really there is the dcd line which goes to reset, tx and rx and thats it.

wack say...a 680 ohm resistor across tx/rx pins instead of a diode...it works perfect.

So the chip, a 680 ohm resistor, +5 and ov and a rs232 connector and away you go.

Just get the 5v from the humax pcb, no need for the 78l05 regulator, its overkill.

LOL...I get them from Jaycar now...the price of 4 tantalum caps is about the price difference of the chip.
