I wouldn't worry about how it works but rather what costs are involved in setting it up and what it costs to use.
If your line rental is 75% of the Bill, then am I right in guessing you receive more calls than you make and if thats the case, how important are the numbers you have now to the Business and what interruption would it cause if you were to change them?
VoiP needs a computer and an Internet connection so thats the first requirement you have to decide on.
Do you have 4 separate incoming lines each with its own number or a system that allows up to 4 callers to be answered on the one number?
Have you checked with Telstra or any other Carrier to see if there may be cheaper options for you?
