Roman ring circa 100-200 AD
I bought this ring to restore, its in reasonably good condition considering its brass and is 1900 odd years old.

The stone is carnelian and is original to the ring ( lots of rings are recovered with stones missing and are replaced with stone recovered elsewhere).
but if you restore it, would it not lose value ??
I am not worried about the value, it not an overly expensive or rare item.
Although I was going to clean it up myself, a local jeweller quoted me only $25 to do it and straighten it up as well. At that price, its not worth me touching it.
Any chance of seeing the ring after restoration?

Last week I got it out to take a photo and post it up. I dropped it on my hardwood floor and it of course it landed stone first, causing the stone to come out. Its amazing how it can spend 1800 years intact only to have me drop it. Unbelievable.
The stone is ok though, it just needs to be set back in so I will take it back to the jeweller.
It came up very clean.
Still haven't taken this back to the jeweller Its on my gunna list.
