I would say they were made of magnesium alloy.
The major problem I found in buying a similar modern one is that they are all 12 tooth, where the original is 10.
Welding the original would be almost impossible but one option would be to use those low temp alloy sticks that you can buy from markets. Can't remember what they're called but they are very tough and could be melted onto the tooth.
At the market they demonstrate by punching a hole in a coke can with a screwdriver (it passes through like it's aluminium foil), then fill the hole by melting the rod near the hole then swiping the rod quickly across the hole to fill it in. Then they try to punch the screwdriver through it again but the coke can crushes flat instead. Pretty tough stuff. I had intended to buy some of these rods because they would be so handy for a lot of different repairs but never got round to it.

By the way if you do know of these rods and where to get them, please give me a link and I will purchase some while it's fresh on my mind.

Before you consider welding as an option you really should know the metal used as welding possibly could cause more damage due to the heat which could crack it and not weld together due to its incompatibility.
Brazing might be a possible option (Oxy-Acetelene) as it uses a lot less heat in the application and I think its a 'softer' material which should allow shaping more easily.
Another problem with any metal is heat stress and it may require a preheat and cooling period as cast iron does to ensure it doesnt break in use.
The problem is today that most equipment isnt built to be repaired or there are no parts available to do so when they do become worn you simply junk it and buy a new one, the 'Throw Away' society !!!
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!

The gears in a Lightburn are a soft cast metal. The Romanian under world bought Lightburn and they were located in suburban Melbourne at Dandenong, had a quick Google but do not appear. Westmix look very similar, have attached a link and give them a bell. If they will not deliver PM me and i will pick up and forward to you. They are not that expensive and it is not worth mucking about with. They also used to have cast iron bearings which wore excessively, so not much point changing one item if the other is buggered as well

I just bought a Lightburn cement mixer cheap. While I was busy cleaning it up for a paint job I discovered the 10 tooth pinion gear that mates to the barrel is almost worn away.

Does anyone know where I can get one from ?

    Yes.
I have an old Lightburn mixer that had a wornout pinion.
A family friend, Hartmut who runs a CNC machine shop made the design/drawing for a replacement pinion and cut one for me out of silicon bronze rather than the original die-cast crap metal - (so should outlive my me and my mixer).
The good thing is he made one for me to try (which fitted & worked fine) and he has about 12 more "blanks" machined to shape that just need putting in the cnc machine and the button pressing to cut the teeth,
Message me if you want contact details for his business.

For me I bought new.... I have not used yet but I have assembled with little problems. There are different sizes so check out the web site. Cheap and no problems dealing with them.

It seams no one wants to post reviews or mostly negative ones only..... I tracked it down to being the same ones as what is in the US...... More reviews so do your home work and pick the size that fits your needs.

Quality is reasonable and should do what I need. Mix about 8m3 this year.

Good luck to everyone in the New Year!!!

Depends on brand/model ~ for many domestic light duty machines ->

If you search about, you can find pinion/ring-gears sets that can be adapted to existing mixing bowls
