Default above ground pool skimmer box

    Hi

I am looking at an above ground pool but the one I like does not have a skimmer box but rather a floating skimmer that Is in the pool itself. this is not compatible with automatic pool cleaners (creepy crawly I called it when I was young) how hard would it be to fit a pool skimmer box to the pool, I am guessing the pool liner would have to be modified in some way and I am not sure how that can be done as to prevent leaks.

    Has anyone done this?

I am looking at turning the inlet and outlet into two separate inlets and fitting a skimmer box to the outside like some above ground pools have.

    Regards

    Barry

A creepy crawly is not suitable for linered pools so you will need to get a suitable cleaner for above ground pools, i use a hayward diver dan which is the best thing i have bought for my pool. A skimmer box would be easy to add, just a matter of cutting a hole in the sheet metal and liner and bolting it in .

Thats what i was alluding to, it has to be specifically for above ground pools . I think it has something to do with the steep edges , that is a cheap chinese knockoff so i'd be skeptical of it working properly in an above ground pool .

The creepy crawlys are bloody hopeless & way way overpriced for a bit of plastic with a poofer valve. I've used both & the Hayward (argonaut) wins hands down.

Skimmer boxes with flanges and gaskets are available for above ground pools. The Hayward SP1094 is one of the most economical. Kreepy Krauly, Baracuda and most other skirted cleaners need to climb the walls to generate a random pattern. The transitional coving from floor to wall in above ground pools generally prevents them from climbing the walls and they then just run around the outside of the floor. Hayward market a number of cleaners suitable for above ground pools. AquaCritter is their current budget model suitable for aboveground pools.

The skimmer, which looks like a cross between a butterfly net and a tennis racquet, removes leaves, insects and other undesirable items from the outer lining area of the pool.
Me and my wife also looking forward to installed pool cleaner for home above ground pool. I read out interesting and informative ideas here. This will be helpful for me. Thanks everyone...

"The skimmer, which looks like a cross between a butterfly net and a tennis racquet,"
Commonly known as a leaf rake or leaf scoop and totally unrelated to the "skimmer box" under discussion here.
