cant be done
Can anybody tell me how to unmarry my 4.1 card? I want to try it in my old 8776 but it is married to another box. I remember reading about it before the server crash but cannot find the info now.

cant be done
IF IT DONT WORK USE A BIGGER HAMMER
If the 8776 isnt a married variety then the marriage bytes in the card wont matter,
I blanked an eeprom in an 8776 to stop OTA updates but it was never a marrying kind of box so not sure if its that eeprom or another??
There was someone on here had a pretty good understanding of the eeprom contents.Just need to remember who
It can't be done any more.
I have an unmarried EEPROM bin if anyone wants to try.
First off I don't know.
But..the card has two memories an outer and an inner. Both are accessable and just on/off states for each bit. So nothing is impossible there.
My understanding is the codes being passed to the inner memory are ENCRYPTED and not cracked yet but this may have been solved.
So if the encryption is found or leaked then there will be a flood of cards again and all the cloning proceedures and programs will be active again and they will bloody work again
The marriage stuff is a couple of extra bytes in the hex serial reply from the card.
It will be checked in an eeprom for comparison.
Not rocket science.
If you could make your naughty card reply with the correct hsn response it would behave as though it were a true husband lol
@ vyking
dont know were you have been m8 but there was a major firmware upgrade from austar in april and since then cards do not run in third party boxes and as such and as far as we know there is no way around unmarring the card from the box anymore
IF IT DONT WORK USE A BIGGER HAMMER
I stand corrected.
Thanks for posting vyking, after a bit of research, I can now use the 8776, with latest firmware, to keep my Greywolf server updated.

Well I don't know if this is true I was told a while ago that if you j-tag a 8776 and put your card in when it fires up it would marry to the card that was put into it and work. But if this works I don't know for I never did try this story out.
We lost a lot of info that was stored in the site and when the site started to run again it was lost info forever.
So mabey somebody who has used the j-tag could shed some lite on this idea.
Could someone help me in finding the address for the hex serial and config byte locations in the eprom of the 8776.
I have been trying to find the info after the change.
I have a sub card in a Titan box and use smartwi to an old 8776 box which now shows E33.
I have experimented blanking the rom etc but no luck.
I have used J-tag to put different firmware in the 8776 and it works. The last update to the firmware before the old goldies went down made the units unable to change the frequency. So I was changing them to old firmware so they would be able to work with Aurora.
4.1 remarry to 8776 = very do-able!
Just don't try it with a 5.3, different RSA key for cam-crypt!!
(even if the marriage bytes are correct for the 5.3 it'll still say wrong card for box. It can be done but you have to modify the encryption key for the camkey within the 8776 firmware, to match that in say a flinders box, & get the flash checksums right etc etc)
slylent
Can you help with the procedure to remarry a 4.1 to 8776
