Default noob seeks help with asus eeepc + bluetooth gps receiver

    Hi Guys,

I'm thinking of getting an asus eeepc very shortyly. They're only $299 at MSY with the linux distro.
I would like to take advantage of it's size for gps. Also, thinking of purchasing this bluetooth gps receiver from ebay:
(Anyone here used this particular gps receiver? If so, what are your thoughts on this? )

My question is after I've installed xp on the eeepc what gps software could I use? I've heard of desinator and tomtom which i know work for windows mobile but would they work on xp? Would i need to install a windows mobile emulator or some sort to run these apps? Any help or recommendations would be appreciated. I'm total noob with gps but it's something that i would like to start playing with

i just received my eeepc 701 and loaded it with xp pro. im having trouble installing my bluetooth dongle for some reason, might be because ive cut my windows to about 250mb with nlite as it only has a 4gb hdd. anyone managed to get gps working on their eeepc? i might order the gps receiver mentioned before. brian, what gps programs have u got working with these?

    manji,

You've most likely deleted bluetooth support in your nLite cut.

    Simply do it all over

On my EEE PC with XP and a bluetooth GPS receiver, I am running Destinator which works pretty well. I also run a beta version of IGO, which is a bit buggy. Lastly, I also run a WM6 Emulator and TomTom 6 - quite fiddly to get working, but worth the effort.

thanks for the feedback. did as farmsky said and reinstalled windows, this time without cutting it at all which only leaves me 1gig free but it did fix the bluetooth issue. thanks riker, i will check out destinator and wm6 emulator. cheers.
