    Default Server move

    Just a post to advise that we will be moving server in the near future. I dont have an exact date, but will update the thread when I do. Update, tonight.

    Why ?

    Although our current host has been reasonably good, when something does go wrong they are extremely slow to deal with. And I mean really slow. We have had a few issues lately and their response times simply get worst and worst. And no one likes the site being offline.

    We have therefore decided to spend more money on a better solution.

    Quad Core Xeon
    4 gig ram
    2 x 146GB RAID-1 SAS disks
    2TB Bandwidth

    100% Uptime SLA
    Fully Managed
    VBulletin also fully supported and managed


    Basically (for those that dont understand server speak), we have a pretty grunty server, probably a little quicker than our current one. Ping times are faster than to our current server, we have a service level agreement for 100% uptime and we have full management. If there are any problems, they will deal with them. If the forum chucks database errors, they will fix them.

    The configuration of our current server no longer suits us and to be quite honest it gives me sleepless nights and literally haunts me. If it wasnt for the support that has given me, we would have been absolutely screwed. But this solution will certainly make me sleep better and will get to enjoy his sundays without me bugging him every week

    I also have a databackup agreement with them to backup the database twice a day and the site itself once a day.

    Any ideas please.

    The only way I can access the site is to use a dodgy HTTP proxy website.

    I cannot access Austech directly from Bingpong or via my BoxPN VPN for some reason.

    I am on Bigpond Mick and it resolved for me around 10.30 last night. Unfortunately everytime we move servers, we have to change our DNS and it can take up to 48 hours (not that it should) to filter through to everyone.

    Our new IP address is 66.212.30.198

    Keep an eye on austech.info the domain name mate, if it doesnt resolve by the end of the day for you can you let me know please ? Certainly you can use the IP address in the meantime, but we will need to know if there are any issues with the domain name not resolving for people.

    It worked once then a Vbulletin Message came back with...

    Invalid Redirect URL ()

    Each time I try to sign in via that IP.

    Tried the IP on a different browser that has never been used to log into Austech but the same thing happened.

    Now all of a sudden it looks like Bigpond has updated, I can now log in without using that IP. Also checked on another computer that hasn't seen that IP you posted.


    So seems to be working ok now, thanks Sanity.

    Hmmmm my last post wasn't correct, it was working then when I went to refresh screens on both computers it died again, with that server moving message. I might just check back later today and see how it's going, this post was done via that HTTP proxy again.
