    Default Roku cant get Netflix

    Hi All,

Got my new Roku and went through the setup process as detailed in other threads, have even put the DNS settings in my router and tested it by reaching netflixs via the pc. Now after upadting everything on the roku I have heaps of channels except Netflixs and Hulu. My thinking is that the DNS settings didn't take by i have redone everything twice incl reseting the roku.... any thoughts?

Can you ad them via the channel store? Did you register the device with Roku?

    Hi sanity,

Yes registered it twice, because after the first attempt I didn't get it so I reset it all and did it again. Stacks of channels in the channel store just no Netflixs or Hulu.........

Just out of interest which DNS/VPN company are you using ?

can you set the Roku to the correct American timezone ? & reboot

here are some links for UnblockUs.....(may or may not be some useful info....)

Thxs Osirus, have been using unotelly for past 3 mths with the WD and yes have set it up with the same time zone as the WD. Have had a roku before so I am sure I followed all the right steps. Will give it another reset and start from scratch

    Cheers

You could try another DNS solution (I know you shouldnt have to but as you have found out, when trying to bypass restrictions sometimes receivers do weird shit)
Unblock Us has a one week free trial, so you could sign up and try their dns addresses and see if anything changes. If anything, you will be able to cross off DNS as being the issue.

Thxs Sanity good thought, but now having installed the DNS in my router it is having an affect on my network..... I know it shouldn't but it does. I now remember this being an issue with my previous Roku. We have decided to stay with the WD because the DNS can be inputted directly. Plus after 10 attempts my frustration level has been exceeded.

    Thanks again for the assistance

had exactly the same issue when i put in the dns settings in my router, not sure what changes were made on their end as i got a message from them to retry and it worked. HOWEVER with the roku I am having issues with net flix where it loses connection and the only way to resolve it is to actually log on to netflix via pc and then it comes good again. so thinking I might go with WD device as well ..
i have my media pc logged in to netflix as a bandaid but that has to be reset every now and then as well to kick start the Roku.

Stenkir interesting having to login to netflix on PC for roku to work with netflix again makes me wonder if someone has guessed your netflix password and your email and made it public some websites give a list of hacked netflix accounts, and maybe someone's logging in to netflix from somewhere else.
You can have five active devices before the last one is denied access in rotation. I'd try changing the password of netflix and also your email attached to netflix password carefully and see if the problem is resolved.

Just a thought ... some isp's use transparent proxies and companies like unblockus will not work.

There are some issues at the moment, I was randomly getting errors this morning. All other services such as Amazon etc from the US are fine.

My kids are watching Netflix now, they said just keep trying it and it will work after a few go's.

Hmmmm been having problems today also.
Should have come here first to check if others were having issues.
    After resetting everything. No Netflix.
    Just checked others. Ok.

Telstra mate. It works fine as long as there is a pc logged in.otherwise it drops out after awhile.

Yep, it was a bugger for about 24 hours.

I have the Roku receiver in question (in the original post) at my house now and all is fine. No real answer to the original problem, I did a factory reset added it to my account and all is good.

It looks like it was just one of those situations where you do it all correctly and it doesnt work for some reason. I have had a similar issue with a WD Live TV receiver and only got it going by taking it to a different house.
