    Default Quantum Levitation video

I love the joke in the Top Comments section.

If a man says something in a forest and there is no woman there to hear it, will that which has been said still be wrong?

Some people are like clouds. When they go away its a beautiful day.

That is a real interesting demonstration. I am interested in levitation. The first video (supercooled) is out of my reach, but the second video is at least in the realm of financial possibility.

Wow. That's amazing! It's pretty cool that it pivots around the magnet. Can you imagine someone building a roller coaster out of magnets and having it run around your room!?!?

Every super conductor acts like a mirror for a magnet and it does not matter if the super conductor floats or the magnet. Back in the eighties there was a race to develop high temperature superconductors between Bell labs, some Japanese and other smaller groups. There was a book about this and it was like the best thriller I read, I could not put it down, even my work suffered.
I envisioned roads coated with a superconducting ceramic surface and we would all be gliding around on magnets by the year 200x. Well that didn't happen.

Even tried to bake superconducting ceramics at home after I read the book. Later on there were even kits for this.

In the second video it is apparently heat not light that causes the rotation according to the description, which is a big difference. The propulsion is not really important. Far more important is finding a material with diamagnetism that is strong enough to be useful. So far only superconductors do it strong enough.
