    Default Unotelly virus like behaviour

Just after some ideas as to get rid of this.....

I have been using Unotelly as a DNS solution for watching services like Netflix in Australia. No problem there.

A few week ago I reactivated my account with Unblockus, a similar service. After comparing loading times and a few other things, I decided to use Unblockus instead.

To use these services, you simply eneter their DNS addressses in to your modem/router's DNS section. I removed Uno's addresses and put Unblockus's settings in.
However since doing this, Uno appears on web pages - sometimes a uno telly login page appears in Google ads, sometimes when I go to a website it redirects me to Unotelly's quickstart web page. I have no idea why, as the settings are gone and its not like I installed anything.

Any ideas on how to kill it ? It seems to be on all my browsers.

Is this happening on all of your computers ?

Have your powered the router down ?

Have you checked DNS settings in the computer just incase some how they were changed to manual instead of auto ?

Theses are from the UnoTelly website

Why am I being redirected by UnoTelly?

(If you do not wish to continue using Unotelly service, please remove UnoTelly's DNS address from your network devices. You can find the instructions "here". Also clear away your internet cookies and cache once the DNS has been removed.)

"here" is the, How to remove UnoDNS

personally I think remove all Unodns settings in Network adapter settings & Uninstall Unohelper if you had it installed

    then, run:

    ipconfig /flushdns (in command prompt)

    run cccleaner

    run malwarebytes

    run antivirus

    restart the computer

    then add UnblockUs setting

also, maybe, reset & reboot your devices like WDTV &/or Modem/Router & install Unblockus Dns settings

Have you tried flushing the DNS cache (ipconfig /flushdns)
You could also try looking in the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCIP/IPv4) properties - the DNS server settings may well be set to manual, yes I know - as already mentioned
In hindsight I should have posted my Facebook status as: "I've blown the head gasket on my 1997 XR3i" rather than "I've just buggered a 14 year old escort".
The police still haven't seen the funny side, my lap top's been confiscated and the wife has gone off to her mum's.

    Hi Andrew,

Could you please check your router settings? Our service is purely network based so it is highly likely that you have changed your DNS there and forgot to change it. It would be really appreciated if you could speak to me directly via e-mail about your concern since we have communicated before back in October. If you are still having trouble setting up, I can do a remote-session via TeamViewer to remove it for you.

p.s. if you don't mind, could you please tell us about the reason you made the switch? We welcome all recommendations especially from you.

    Regards
    Nicholas

After trying a number of suggestions, I appear to have won

The only setting I have ever changed were the DNS addresses in my modem/router as per instructions for use. I dont change DNS settings in individual devices because I have 2 Roku's and they dont have DNS settings, they use what the modem/router is using.

After changing to Unblock us, I have had numerous occasions of Unotelly's service on my screen. On some occasions it has taken a google adspace on the page telling me to login or showing a quickstart page. I have been redirected to Unotelly when trying to go to Netflix webpage on several occasions after removing Unotelly DNS, there have been a couple of occasions when going to other pages that I have been redirected to Unotelly quickstart/login page.

Nicholas, no real problem with the service, however I was being redirected to the Unotelly page a bit too much in my opinion when trying to access websites like Netflix and I did go through a period where I felt it was taking far too long for Netflix to launch. For that reason I reninstated my Unblockus account to do a comparison and found that loading was faster with Unblockus at that stage and I havent changed it since.

Having said that, there are many people here using Unotelly obviously with no problems (if there were they would no doubt post) and at the time it could be related to any number of issues with how Australian internet traffic is routed in and out of the country and different ISP routes.

I also found I would have to manually update my IP ....

I then installed the UnoHelper Application...... & it doesn't seen to happen now....

....It is interesting Unblock Us loads quicker...... thanks

Not necessarily for everyone, you would have to compare both yourself to make a comparison. Both offer a free trial.

    Hi OSIRUS,

IP Update happens if you have Dynamic IP address which is often the case if you are on DSL/ADSL network. We have several tools to update your IP automatically, UnoHelper being one of them. If you have DDWRT router, you can also use our IP Update API and make a CRON API call every hour automatically to update IP.

If you have speed issue, you might want to try our Sydney servers:

Your latency should be less than 50ms to our servers in Sydney.

    Hi Andrew,

It is hard to why you are might be getting our page after switching to unblock without doing a remote session to diagnostic your issue. The first reason could be due to DNS cache if you haven't rebooted or flushed your DNS explicitly. The second explanation, although unlikely, is that unblock might have pointed some of the urls back to our servers. Since you are no longer authenticated (new IP), you are getting our Quickstart page.

Besides these two explanations, I couldn't think of any other plausible explanation because it would be technically impossible to receive our pages without using our DNS.

I found that changing to Unotelly from unblock us was the only way to get bbc iplayer to run on my wdtv smp. I then noticed that my occasional buffering had disappeared. As they both offer a free trial it really is worth trying both services to see which one suits your particular system setup.
