Got Getflix working thanks chaps. It would appear that my ISP had it's own DNS settings hidden in my Router so I changed these to the ones supplied by Getflix...vey happy indeed - I was dubious to do this as I was concerned it may alter the performance / speed of my internet connection but it doesn't appear to have made any difference! Has anyone out there noticed any drops in speeds when they have changed DNS settings? Next mission is to try and get Sky Go on my TV but having problems here as it needs Silverlight to run and the TV doesn't like this...any ideas?

What sort of bandwidth do you need to get Netflix to work properly. I'm stuck with ADSL1 will that work?

    ADSL1 speed can vary greatly
Go to to find what your speed is...do it a few times throughout the day to gauge an average speed and remember during school holidays the speed often is slower due to congestion

Post the results and we can better give you an idea

1.5 Megabits per second - Recommended broadband connection speed
3.0 Megabits per second - Recommended for SD quality
5.0 Megabits per second - Recommended for HD quality
25 Megabits per second - Recommended for Ultra HD 4K quality

Adsl 1 is capable of 8 Mbps but if you are on a capped ADSL1 plan like myself you shall only get 1.5 Mbps which means you may have a struggle .

    Follow mandc's suggestion anyway.

I live in a retirement village and apparently we cant be upgraded to ADSL2. Like you I can drop down to 1.5Mb/s but I am often around 4-5 Mb/s on Speedtest. NBN Well its still a distant dream.

If you want to try XBMC which is free this should give a good indication if netflix will work ok for you.

I got Netflix running by using unblock.us and a standard aus CC. the only thing I had to do was enter a dodgy area code.

Thats the problem I can only enter US zip, cant get away from AU signup. I have getflix DNS entered in modem with the static route as well but still get shunted to au signup.

You can use UnoTelly too -- it also has a free trial and unlocks almost 300 channels from around the world

It will be interesting to see if they start cracking down on aus credit cards after that. My preference will be to stay with the US sub..

When you go to page that has at top of page manage and support labels click on Manage and then on the Blue IP Update button and that will update your IP because you must be using a Dynamic IP Adddress. Try using something like No-Ip for eg. so it doesn't matter if your IP changes you will be always connected.
