Do your own logo. It's very rewarding when someone comments on your logo, and you know it's your own creation, plus I had someone try and design mine for 8 weeks, in the end I just gave up.
and yes Phil can do the rest.

I thought of creating my own logo but 1. I just don't have the time and 2. I wouldn't know where to begin or which software to use. Might give Phil a PM!
Cheers!
For banners, I use www.20dollarbanners.com
Fast turn around and good results. I only just had a slight change made to a banner of mine that they did over a year ago and the designer did it free of charge.
Two examples they have done are:

You don't need to be a genius, I would just follow the rule of you want people to know what you are about with a simple glance.
ie with the austech logo, you cam quickly see it's Australia and you can see it's to do with electronics. (technology). Your name is tech city, I'd be tempted just to use austechs hehehehe.
Keep it simple and just remember first impressions mean a lot.

Try to create logitip myself, I mostly use here these simple programs: Logo Maker or AAA Logo.

For one-off graphic design projects like Logos and banners, etc I often use Fiverr.com. There are some good designers on the site, you just have to do a little digging and research.
Fiverr is a great suggestion - and while I may be biased because I'm a graphic designer - I highly recommend finding a good one and paying them their rate. Sometimes the design can be the make or break of a business - and if you're going to be looking at it constantly, you may as well look at something you'll love for the long term!
I would make it myself and if you can't then find one of those freelance companies and select a freelancer who can do it. Really not expensive and you get t choose which freelancer you use.
A great place to get a logo or banner created is Fiverr.com. I've bought a couple gigs from people on their for my website and got a couple banners created for it. There's a lot of talented people on Fiverr and there's a lot of competition so you know you'll get a good service. Just check out their video ad for their gigs and choose the best one you think their is. Also check their rating and comments. I know there are lot of sellers on there with a 100% rating.
Does anybody remember the site that let's you upload an image and then tells you from which site(s) the image may have come from?
