USB capture/streaming device recommendations
Gday wirebenders,
I'd like to stream live audio and video around the house/bbq area over my wireless lan.
Can anyone suggest a video/audio capture device for a lounge room laptop that will handle this?

It depends on what you want to do and how much you want to spend.
A simple $20 av USB capture device from with vlc media player would probably do exactly what you want. The only problem with this is that it takes a bit of know how to set it up and you have to do it each time you want to watch something. Put it this way, it's an achievement to get it to work properly, and once it works its a pain in the ass to keep it going.
If you have some cash to burn then just get yourself a vulkano or sling box,it takes the hassle out of it and makes life so much easier. These devices allow you to send your tv/foxtel/dvd feed to your tablet, smart phone and pc etc via your local network and even the Internet. They will set you back about $100-$200, so it's not cheap, but you can be anywhere in the world and view the feed.
Again I'm assuming that you want to stream a tv signal???
Alternative to Slingbox Vulkano is
Belkin @TV Plus (8/10 APC magazine)
Android app
