Default Satellite hookup with 2 multiswitches

    Hey people.

Will this setup work? I need to supply 6 IQ2 boxes and have 2 2x8 spaun multiswitches in stock.

    Cheers

you will need a quad lnb running 2 cables to each multi switch

reason being is each multi switch will need to utilise a horizontal and vertical signal
and the only way that is achieved in this scenario is a quad lnb .

i personally would go with a dual lnb and a 12way multi switch similar to this one

dont say linux if i wanted it id install it

Ok. I did know about the 2x12 but was just hoping to use the 2 2x8 that I have. Also a quad is out of the question. Already ran the siamese to roof.

    Thanks

With an understanding of how those Spauns work, they are not power pass for H/V, but generate the 18/13V for each input from any or all of the connected decoders.

The only stipulation is that the Splitters are both Power Pass on both legs. A little signal loss, but should not be a problem.

Indeed, I will also point out that multiswitches can usually be cascaded too. One thing to be careful of though in that case is that you wont overdraw the LNB current (usually rated at 500ma or so)

So in that case can I take 2 feeds from the first multiswitch into the V/H of the second multiswitch?

Not good to cascade from the outputs - some MS have through ports for cascading. Do as B4L suggested and use the splitters as long as they are powerpass both legs, there will be no problems

Indeed, I would stick with the splitter option, less hassles.
