interesting how One LNB Input feeds to two tuners .....
The Humax looks like a nice STB....If only I could afford to buy both the UEC & the Humax to compare them...

Surely VAST will never go to dual polarity. If they ever do then all those who just upgraded their LNB's to wide-band will start whinging about the fact that they weren't told to install a dual-lnb. Politically it would be too much trouble unless there was an absolute technical necessity.

Your wide band LNB is a dual polarity LNB. I've not seen a single polarity LNB for long long time. Dual output LNB's are a different ball game altogether. If you get a dual tuner vast box (or for any other box for that matter) then you need a dual output LNB, one for each tuner to be able to use them independantly. But if using for VAST and they keep all channels on the vertical polarity then you could use the loop through feature that might be available on the dual tuner receiver internally or externally which splits the sigal for the second tuner. And then in saying that if it doesn't have that feature you could also get away with using a splittler if all channels stay on V polarity.

Obviously UEC and Humax are in the know as the can both operate with 1 LNB input.
It's no secret. All the vast channels are on the one polarity so you can split the signal internally in the recever for the second tuner.
If you were able to receive foxtel/austar as well, many channels are on hoizontal polarity so you would need an LNB with dual output so you could watch a channel on a vertical channel (vast) on one receiver and a horizontal channel on the other like foxtel.

Hi. With regard to the comments that VAST is on ONLY vertical polarity, what is the purpose of LNB1 in out and LNB2 in out, on the back of the new DSR 4639 twin tuner UEC recorder, if the signal can be split. Just curious.
Purely by accident, I came across the UEC advertised for $499 from Accessantennas.com.au
Well actually the VU+ Duo don't have LNB outputs and have an option to 'loop' internally from one tuner to the other.
