Default Rust on mesh centreplate dish.

    Hi everybody,
I have just purchased a secondhand 3m mesh dish. The black centreplate has some rust, (nothing seriously bad though.) I am just wondering what black/silver? paint to use on it to clean it up, or will it be okay if I just clean the rust back.
    Thanks everybody.

If you're just going to clean the rust back then it will come back worse so I would just buy a can of kill rust black paint and slap a bit of that on.

Also check the arms holding the LNB in place for any signs of rust.

These are a pain to replace if your dish is mounted up high.

Yep, what Leroy said. Hit it with some good-quality black exterior enamel. If you want it to last more than a couple of years, think about a coat of cold-gal primer first.

Or, if you're fanatical, take the whole centre bracket and hub plates, to a hot-dip galvanising place and have it galvanised. (now where would I get a crazy idea like that?)

    Gidday David071.

I had the same issue with my 3.8M Orbitron a few years back. The original finishing on any of these dishes is pretty crap, so isnt going to last to long anyway
I ended up totally dissasembling the dish, bead blasting the complete mount and hub and then undercoating and finishing with Two Pot Enamel black paint.
To this day there isnt a sign of any rust on the mount - Approx 5 years down the track.

    Cheers:
