Many thanks, about time Garmin put out an update.

Can you advise pietu if a Sensis version will be released, or is it only Navteq with Garmin now?

I read this on another site about the Sensis maps for Garmin.

    I noticed that there had been no "official" updates for my 2 Garmin devices (310 & 1490T) since July 2012 so I contacted Garmin Australia as to why my Lifetime Updates subscription wasn't providing the promised quarterly updates. Here is the response I received;

    "Dear ***** ***********,
Thank you for contacting Garmin Australasia Support. My name is ******.

*****, the Lifetime map subscription provides you with "up to 4 map per year". Sensis who is the mapping provider has not released any new maps at this stage but they have told us the next map update should be coming out in Feb 2013.

    With kind regards,
    ****** *
    Garmin Australasia Support Specialist"

So it seems that older devices will no longer be getting the regular quarterly official updates as they are Sensis locked. Bugger!!! At least my Honda Navigation works well with the Navteq maps.

    Cheers

Garmin are telling porkies here. There was a Sensis map release in December 2012 R19.3. I guess it is going to cost them more money to continue providing quarterly updates (especially since they have swapped to Navteq) so they have decided to make the Sensis updates less frequent.

Sorry not this mapset, the "Sensis map release in December 2012 R19.3." that jards88 was talking about.

I did not say there was a Garmin release of the map just that Sensis did have a map update available.

Looking forward to the new Sensis map. The sooner the better! Navteq still useless in my home area, but now noticing Sensis is outdated in other parts of town. Always been a Garmin fan but this transition is getting frustrating...

The NAVTEQ maps still read out 'motorway' (MTWY) as 'em two y'. There's also some other TTS issues still around.

I've got the latest firmware etc installed on the GPS. Can anybody suggest a way to correct the issue - it confuses the crap out of you!

Very useful thread in general. I've decided to try this with my 1490T. My query is about the updates to the traffic capabilities. In the absence of a G2S folder on the device, I presume the 1490T does not support this function. However, there is a ".DB" file in the update, which could of course go in the sqlite folder. The excellent tutorial linked to on gpsunderground referred to whether the device is compatible with Trend features. Does anyone know if the 1490T fits this description?

Yes you are correct in presuming the 1490T does not support G2S files. I own one & cannot find a G2S file on Unit, hidden or otherwise.

Also yes to the SQLite file .DB going in the SQLite folder.

Suggest reading my tutorial before you go ahead; although I'm sure everything & then some would be covered by the GPSU Tutorial.

    Cheers, Tiny
