yeah I'll take a ute for a test drive this weekend and see how I like it.

actually couldn't find a Ute I was interested in test driving, and some douche bag at car city was so up himself I had to leave before I put my foot squarely into his nut sack, telling me the car had never been in an accident when it was clearly repaired at every corner and the paint didn't even match, you could see where they had blended it into the doors! He didn't like being told to shut his mouth before he looses concentration and falls over due to not being able to think and stand at the same time.
I had someone point something out to me though, which has thrown another spanner in the works, I was told the new Hiluxs drive like cars, and other than not having a great deal of power some models fit the rest of my criteria...also I realised clearance could be a problem in a Falcon ute, I live in the hills a lot of dirt roads, some resembling light 4x4 tracks.
so do I start looking for a 2wd hilux?
Or a Falcon RTV ute.
Ive watched new Hiluxs on the road and they are slugs...
Suggestions on what car to buy next
King springs make a 40mm lift kit for the front of the falcon. Just need an alignment after fitting.
Ford used to sell a genuine spring kit.
Makes a lot of difference.
1gr engine shouldn't be a slug with almost 200kw... and TRD do a supercharger kit for them!
2.7 might be off the cards, but the 4.0 V6 sounds like a goer, just need to find one that isn't cactus for around $16k
Yeah but the V6 drinks and its gearing does not help.
Maybe your use to high sitting cars, im more a low seating position driver.....
Edit, lift kits or taller springs should also need longer shockers so add that to the cost of converting.

folks in the country must have a lot of time on there hands...although it was pretty informative for me
The utes drive just like the sedans, i had a sedan XR6 and going to the V8 ute was the same thing in terms of driving, however the 6 Cly being lighter in the front is more nimble.
After seeing that clip i recon just get a normal 6 Ute and raise it a little, dont get too carried away as your geometry will change, ive noted in the past that the RTV model had special steering arms that bent upwards to keep the bump steer under control and the arms up and out of the way of harm.
yeah not many RTV utes around for sale anyway, and they're all 4 hour drive into the country, it's a long way to go if I don't buy it...
I need more money to get what I want, it's getting harder looking for a car I want to drive.
go look at a mercedes sprinter 312d ute, they go like a shower of shit and good on fuel, like 8 litres per 100 klms we got 11 of them that we run as paper trucks, some of them have 700000ks on them and still going strong.
we have one of those mercs at work, they're alright, but not what I'm after. and when things to do go wrong with them no one can figure out what the problem is! just spent thousands on the one at work and it turned out to be an ignition barrel thing, after relays and starter solenoids already installed.
just to keep you guys updated
I was sidetracked from the plan a little and ended up buying a Mercedes Benz ML500 (W163)
it's a nice car, and cost just $15 p/week more than the Hilux to run
