Default Nube question re. import map to basecamp

I am not sure if this cannot be done, or if I am doing it wrong.

I am trying to import into Basecamp, the map "City Navigator Australia & New Zealand NT 2013.40" which I downloaded as an unlocked image from the link in this forum, but it says "gmapprom.img could not be imported."

Perhaps I need a Garmin device to instal it on then import from it?

    Thanks in advance

I have lifetime maps so I am able to download the map to my PC for use in BC.
I have just checked to see where it was put

    C:/programdata/Garmin/Core Update Service/Map xxxxx2013.30/xxxxxxxxxx.img

But I think this structure was generated by the "MapInstall" app from Garmin when I downloaded it to the PC.
Unless anyone knows better, you may have to use BC connected to a device to view your map.

First of all, the .img file is for uploading to a Garmin GPS device.

To install in a folder on your PC for BaseCamp you need the MapSource version of the same map with the Gmap files & folders with installer, they're in the same post. More advanced, you can split the image file & install with MapsetToolkit &/or Gmaptool combined with cGPSMapper. \

Alternative is create a folder on a USB drive or SD card & place the xxx.img file in it, then open BaseCamp & it will load the map from the drive or card as if it is a GPS device.

    Hope that helps.
