I installed the Netflix app on my Samsung Galaxy tab 10.1 and Galaxy S3 phone. It works perfectly on both on my own network.
I am wondering if anyone else has been playing around and has come up with a best solution for viewing Netflix away from home. Using data from your phone doesnt use a DNS solution and you are of course geo blocked by Netflix.
I'll start doing some fiddling, but thought I would ask if anyone is using it as I dont want to reinvent the wheel if there is already an easy solution I have previously watch movies on Crackle, so streaming is no problem via phone data and with providers like Kogan giving you 6 gig of data, I should have some spare data to watch the odd chow or movie while waiting in the car or something etc etc.

Look Here -> |
This looks promising, Unblock us manager
..
Ok looks like a no goer and is only good if you are on your own network.
Not that I can see, Google has blocked me as a malicious user for some reason
I have found another one called Set DNS but cant get it to work. It definately has 3G support.
Would be nice to have the ability but looks like a no go with unblock us
Maybe try tunnelbear
just read one of the reviews saying it worked for netflix but then that might have just been to bypass the 'wrong country mode'

I have had success using a VPN android app called Hideman.
The problem seems to be the usual with VPN's....speed. Having said that, I can watch it ok and its not buffering though is a little blocky. Obviously a DNS solution like Unblock Us would be much better
I can verify Tunnelbear is working fine too
No buffering but also a little blocky
I ended up using Unotelly's VPN service and thats about the best so far. Started a show and drove 4 kms without it missing a beat so looks very positive. Netflix in the car while driving on long trips.....wont have to talk to my missus at all
For anyone that wants it, here is the Vudu app for android.
Its is blocked on a lot of android devices,so just untick the settings box on your device to accept third party apk's and click on it to install.
Wouldn't the problem be the speed of the 3g network?
and where's the Apple version, hehehhehe
There is no problem with 3G speed, on the Telstra (kogan) network anyway. I have driven from my place to Bendigo before with no dropouts on Internet radio so would expect streaming TV to be fairly good. I doubt it would be worthwhile on the Optus network which seems to be massively oversubscribed everywhere these days but Telstra should be fine.
You should know by now that Apple devices are only designed to be used how Apple wants them usedand where's the Apple version, hehehhehe
I have no trouble on Optus 3G.
Works on my Apple MacBook Pro where ever i go, just tethered from phone, 2 DNS address's added to network config (totally free)
Have been doing it this way ever since the very first thread about Netflix. No issues at all, apart from at highly congested times, and even then, it is the ads that buffer, the main content runs smooth.
I know this isn't answering what admin has asked.... as i couldn't seem to do the same when using the Iphone 3GS (i think)
But as for the 3G side of things, works fine.
