    Default PROMAX MC-360B Satellite Meter.

    Hi everybody,
I am thinking of purchasing a secondhand Promax MC-360B Satellite Meter. I am just wondering what other people think of these satellite and terrestrial meters.
From what I have read they will fine tune HD and SD transmissions. Are these units user-friendly? Any feedback appreciated.
    Thanks everybody.

    Very old technology.

Analogue-only meter. No BER/MER readings for digital signals.

It's basically an elaborate satfinder... eg: moving needle and noise indication.

It doesn't decode any signals, or differentiate if they are SD or HD, it just indicates signal strength, but NOT signal quality.

The manual is available The English version is about half way down.

What did you want to do with the meter?..... Hobby, pro, sat, terrestrial, cable bands?

Personally, I wouldn't recommend an analogue-only meter when almost all signals are now digital.

    Thanks MTV
I really appreciate your help. Yes I thought it was quite old technology ie., analogue. One went for auction on E-Bay in U.K for about 50pounds!
I was going to use it as a satellite finder. I thought it looked like quite a professional unit. I do have a Prof SF-500 which I am happy with - so I will stick with that.
I would not put money into old technology.

The SF-500 is a great little meter and an excellent performer for the price.

Being able to identify the satellite and have a signal quality scale, sets it apart from just about everything else in the price range.

I have an old Sadelta meter, which is very similar to the Promax, which hasn't seen the light of day for at least 20 years.

It was top of the range once.
