Sounds a bit dodgy to me. I thought 1345 numbers could only be used for digital diallers. I am sure I have read this somewhere. I know who to ask so I will find out.
Anyone heard much about this new SMS access gateway number.
It's 13450641
There was an updated sms setup guide that came with the lastest lot of Bosch 16 plus I put in.
Who's getting the rebate for this?
And it says to use 125107 as the backup.

I just found this on the amca web site for that number I only know of one company that uses primus. My dodgy thoughts may be confirmed.
Sorry the cut and past did not work real well when I submitted it.
Tha amca web site also say 1345 may be used only for monitoring security alarms.
So the way I see it if you call an sms, monitoring an alarm then I guess they can do it. Who pays for the sms is the question
Why the hell do people monitor their alarms via sms, man ghey.
it's not necessarily "ghey". I constantly get SMS's to say that a door has been left opened once the alarm is set - usually caused by the wife trying to get 2 kids in the car and in a rush to go to school.
She gets them as well and she at least can shut the doors or whatever has caused the alarm.
I used to think it was over the top but with kids now - it's great. Also, I have set up the new number and all I pay is the standard 20 odd cents per sms.
SMS is not a good way to monitor an alarm system, there are way too many things that can and do go wrong, delays in the network e.t.c i would much rather a control room call me, speak to a human. Also knowing they are monitoring the status of my system at all times
Anyways, if sms is your preferred option, than im glad its working for you
Does that smsc work from optus lines? Specifically over Optus cable?
I have used the SMS feature to monitor standby generators before. It's not just useful for security.
I have used the SMS feature to monitor standby generators before. It's not just RELIABLE for security.
SMS is not a guaranteed media. I had someone text me a message and only received it the following morning.
So true, I have had text's arrive 3 days later, try texting during olympics or new years... GOOD LUCK with it- I know my new years text's just wouldn't go anywhere this year...The network was just that conjested.
I don't think any insurance company would suffice sms as a secure path for security, backup maybe but not primary path.
Theres apples, then theres oranges, oops lemons to.
Sorry I missed this bit,
Bobby maybe you could have your alarm programmed for GOOF PROOF, that way your alarm cant be set with doors and windows OPEN, only the entry path zone can be open while your walking out on arming. I think your alarms programmed for "forced arm" currently.
Hope that helps
I reckon you will find Bosch own the 1345 number, and collect the SMS rebate at there customers expense.
Either that or Meinrad from Digiflex owns it and just put it in the manual without Bosch's knowledge to pick up some extra CASH on the sly, pritty smart idea really.
I also have the documents to go direct to the Telco. I believe i can get 2cents more per call then my provider is currently offering?
Ill leave you gents to it, theres a major storm down south and looks like major flooding, might be a few panels for me to replace.
Well not everyone wants to pay for monitoring. Owners choice.
Have the alarm dial your mobile or sms when there is an alarm is basically free, only the cost of the call.
But it's better then it just being a local alarm!
Insurance offer more of a discount if it's monitored by a control room.
The discount is about $20 p.a woopeee. Until they (The insurance companies) get real sms will be an attractive option.
