I found this website via Google about 5 years ago , maybe more , when someone suggested that the Jerrold Box I purchased at an Auction could be modified to receive Pay TV for Free.
It seems someone somewhere worked out how to insert a Pic Chip with a Program that would do the job.
I would like to know how them someone somewhere found out how to do that.
Is there a website that a member knows that explains a little on how that information got into the public domain?
And I would like to know , if I keep hold of the Foxtel Boxes I have accumulated , will someone somewhere one day find out how to do what they done with them Jerrolds?

Its a cable box, not satellite so I will move the thread to the cable forum.
And guess if I took the hard drive out of a dead Foxtel iq and placed it into my Computer , Windows prolly wouldn't be able to play any recordings that may be on it because it wouldn't recognise the format.
But if I reformat it , will I be able to use it like a normal hard drive of 160 Gigs , or are they "SPECIAL"?
they are just normal hdd but as said need formatting. but at 160gigs is it worth it?

160 Gigs is helluva lot more than I have ever used or needed in the past.
I currently have 80 Gigs and am using just over 10 of them.
Prolly just slow me down having too big a Hard Drive.
Plasma coffee table legs?
