    Default Search Engine Optimisation

    Anyone have any useful D.I.Y SEO for websites?

    I used the robots.txt and robot.txt method, are there any other tips or tricks?

    One I am mainly concerned with is for example;

    When someone searches for "security systems <suburb they live in>". I want to embed in my site all the suburbs in Australia, without it showing a list of suburbs on my index page.

    maybe put the suburbs in your <title> tag and in keywords meta.
    eg <title>Nelson Bay Computers,Nelson Bay,Port Stephens,Salamander Bay,Computer Repairs,New Computers,

    In all honesty I would engage a professional to get it right and claim it on tax if its for a business. There are quite a few companies that specilaize in search engine placement and provide guarantees as to placement and performance.

    My 2 cents for the day ( actually I reckon I am nearly up to $4 )

    I don't think meta tags are completely dead. just down the list of importance.
    I have a site with very little content on the front page at all (all images), and no tags but for title and keywords. It is new and has low page rank and very little external links.
    Google uses the keywords meta to describe it and it regularly pops up in top 3s of its targeted searches.
    Therefore I would still include suburbs in the keywords tag.
