As if one crappy shopping channel was not enough! Nine has just added Extra 2 on . The bit rate on GEM must be approaching SD by now.

Then the bitrate will match the quality of the programing.
So far at least in my area, this channel hasnt appeared YET, but give it time...................
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!
We wont get it Gordon, we are in WIN-land* . We've got Prime7's 2nd datacast channel coming in may though!
*Unless you have a Sydney antenna now...
I got 99 problems and a crimp aint one...
They suck arse, but I wouldn't have such a problem with these channels if they were given a channel number in the 100's somewhere. It keeps them away from the proper channels, particularly GO! which just gets pushed further away everytime. Going by the VAST LCN allocations, each broadcaster uses a 3 digit 'master' LCN. Eg; Southern Cross uses 701-705 for their channels on master and dual bouquets. Metros/regionals should use these for theirshittingshopping channels instead of LCN *4 and *5.
nbound, although I believe Sydney Digital is possible not that far from me, I get my FTA terrestrial signal basically via Orange.
Is this proposed Prime Data channel on FTA or VAST ?
On Terrestrial FTA we already have 5 Prime channels, 60 & 61 are just a clone of 5 anyway so putting programming on one of them would be an improvement..

Its on Prime's east coast FTA stations, it wont be on VAST Western (GWN) at this stage. And Prime doesnt broadcast on VAST Eastern.
Its in conjunction with Brand Developers, who already have their informercials on Prime7.
I imagine they will use LCN 65.

When my tv displayed "new channel" found I was hoping for a 'Discovery' type channel or similar but no we get another useless shopping channel.
Makes you wonder, who in their right mind would even watch that shite?

What another shopping channel and not much worth watching on any other channel, just repeat's and less variety. Then they wonder why piracy is so prevalent in AU
Its not really the broadcaster fault, commercial broadcasters are limited to two standard multichannels. The datacasting channels are a loophole, which will hopefully disappear in 2014 once the restrictions are gone.

If the shopping channels can survive on Optus sat, someone, somewhere must be watching. Even so it's hard to see how all the overnight shopping ads, the first round of shopping channels and now another round of shopping channels on FTA can possibly generate enough money to justfy their existence.
Unless they can pass this garbage off as part of the requirement for 'Live' programing but I cant see that because most is made in the USA but the odd one does appear to have some local input and voice overs done here.
But when you work out how many hours a week times 52 weeks these so called 'Infomercials' are on air it adds up to a significant amount that somebody must be making money from to cover the costs.

I'm watching channel 10 as background noise for the first time, and that seems to be home shopping channel, I've seen ads for a exercise machine, a aluminium wallet, and a grip go for your mobile, All i found on ebay for a 1/10th of the price. hehehehe
Heaps of people watch them. My aunty gets out of bed & turns on the telly & has a shopping Chanel running for most of the day. She buys a lot of their crap too.
Mr Foxtel once told me that their religious channel is one of their most popular too.
Hard to believe really, but I guess nobody wants to go to hell.
Especially when daytime television constantly bombards the oldies minds & brainwashes them into buying funeral insurance. Man O" Man I hate those insurance ads.
IMOP these channels are wasted space or at least a wast of bandwidth.
There's three ways of doing things:
the right way, the wrong way
and the MaxxPower way
Which is the same as the wrong way only quicker
