Any thing much on chips and backups happing?
I done a little research on google but have not found much.

nothing concrete yet , just all the standard rumours , there are some homebrew loaders and such .
there are the standard suspects working on it though

also beware there are plenty of places now advertising PS3 mods , this is BS , remember all the old scams about mods , 'sorry we have none , but we will take your deposit and let you know when they arrive' and worse than that
one brisbane firm working under another name after closing suddenly is doing this as well as plenty of others , so just keep the brains ticking over people and ask the questions before commiting to anything

I am thinking of buying a 40in sony bravia lcd tv that has the free ps3 with it (via redemption) but what use will the ps3 be if it can't play backups?

I am not one who pays big $ for a game to have to buy it again when the disc gets scratched.
