    Default Musical keyboard

    Hi all,
I own a Casio keyboard and I'd like to do a couple of circuit mods to it.

Firstly, The keyboard has an auto off feature, which if you stop playing for about 5 mins the keyboard turns itself off and all the settings are lost. It is actually a pain in the butt.
Where and how, in the circuit, do I disable this feature ?

    Loopyloo.

Trace the power button and see where it ends up. If its a momentary button, you might be able to replace it with a toggle instead.

Make it play a key every 5 mins with a 555 chip or something

...or if it is connected to a computer send a signal through the midi port.

You didn't post the model number so nobody will be able to tell you if there is a mod or service setting where you might be able to disable it... although a Google search is usually what I do to find such settings.
Better synthesizers can be programmed through the MIDI port and an interface software from your PC. Casio... don't think so, but still worth a search.

    ...and what is Secondly?

From a Google search for a similar model:

Hold down the TONE button while turning on the keyboard to disable Auto Power Off.
If that does not work try other buttons while turning on. The worst thing that might happen is a factory reset.

here is the manual should yoiu need it:

Try Demo button, Beat Bank button, Tone bank button individually while turning on.

    Thanks.
I have been looking for the manual for years.
I'll try the buttons. It will take a while. 6 minutes for each test.

Follow the Circuit from the power supply to the switch and then regulator.
It will pass through a Transistor or Fet which acts as a switch.
Remove this and link the tracks so that power goes straight to the regulator.

It is usually not that straight forward.
The processor puts itself to sleep after 6 minutes and might control the supply for the audio amp, filters, etc with a transistor like you say to cut any quiescent load but bridging this is unlikely to fire up the processor again.

Using a 555 timer to keep it active might not be such a silly idea after all, if he can't find a button combination to disable the auto power off.

Keep trying. The model I found that had this disable feature was a much simpler, cheaper Casio Keyboard.
Wouldn't hurt to try to contact Casio about this, you never know.
