Thread: no sata drives

    Default no sata drives

    must be that time of the year for comp problems got a abit av8 motherboard running windows xp this comp runs 24/7 after a recent start up it went through post then when it was doing the sata dives check just sat there searching for drives sat for about 10 minutes then came up error no drives found press g to continue it will the load xp which is on a ide drive
    as it is the comp takes ages to load but if i disconnect the drives it boots normally have taken both sata drives out and checked them in another comp and they work fine not the drives checked all settings in bios all seem OK anybody have a idea what the problem would be here or is it time for a new motherboard

    Just to be clear you are using a IDE to boot windows and the sata drives as slaves?

    Might be a mother board problem or a driver problem , definatley a conflict somewhere and its been working like this with all drives conected before or have you just added these sata drives recently?

    hi thanks for your reply yes the boot drive is ide and the sata are slave have had them like this for 12 months then the other week it now comes up with this error on boot

    reinstall on the ide
    99% its a xp prob

    hmm have you added any new software recently? try a restore point to a day bedfore you think it stated to happen, with the sata drives in all too. See what happens and how it loads and operates. Then post back
