netmeter and online optus usage meter are showing different downloads

Hi all,
i've got netmeter installed on my laptop and when in check and see my UL&DL for the day, it shows different to what the optus one shows when you go to their website and check your usage. Its not a slight difference either. my laptop netmeter shows that i'm using alot more.

For example, yesterday, my netmeter shows the daily usage of UL&DL total of being 1.195GB and when i log onto optus website and check my usage for the same day it shows that i've used 737MB in UL&DL.

has anybody come across this before. its not only for 1 day either. Every day, netmeter shows that i'm using way more than what i am. Not that i'm complaining. i'd be complaining if it was the other way around though.

Thanks for the reply woodstock. i dont have any other LAN activity going on. My main computer is turned off most of the time. Is there other software which does only Inet???

When I connect to the Internet, I get a little Icon down bottom of my screen.
It has 2 monitors flashing.
When I put my mouse on this Icon it tells me the name of my Modem and it tells me how much I have sent and received in the current session.
When I went to the website of my provider the next day, the amount they said I used was pretty much exactly what the Icon said.
I am using XP system.

Free downloads? Do you get any of those with Optus. When I've tried mine with Bigpond, its pretty well identical for uploads/download.

i can go back each day for a month and it shows the same thing. Optus download is far less than my netmeter..
